Statement of Faith

We believe in:

1.  The divine inspiration of the Scriptures, as originally given; their inerrancy and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct:

2.  The unity of the Godhead, and the divine coequality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; the Sovereignty of God in Creation, Providence and Redemption:

3.  The total depravity of human nature in consequence of the fall, and the necessity for regeneration:

4. The true and proper deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; his virgin birth, his real and perfect manhood; the authority of his teaching, and the infallibility of all his utterances; his work of atonement for sinners of humanity by his substitutionary sufferings and death; his bodily resurrection and his ascension into heaven; and his present priestly intercession for his people at the right hand of the Father:

5.  The justification of the sinner solely by faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ:

6.  The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit in regeneration, conversion and sanctification; also in ministry and worship:

7.  The universal Church, the body of which Christ is the Head, embracing all the redeemed, called by God, through the Gospel, born of the Spirit and justified by faith; the local church, comprising such believers as the expression of the universal Church; and fellowship between such churches, manifesting the unity of the body of Christ:

8.  The ordinance of baptism, by immersion, on profession of repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; but not in baptism as conveying regenerating grace.

9.  The ordinance of the Lord's Supper; but not as being a sacrifice for sin, or involving any change in the substance of the bread and wine:

10. The personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ in glory:

11. The resurrection of the body; the judgment of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, with the eternal blessedness of the righteous and the eternal punishment of the wicked.

Notes to the Statement of Faith

1. In addition to the doctrines expressed above, the church teaches the following:

a. That believers should separate from the Interfaith Movement, the Ecumenical Movement, association with the World Council of Churches, and any doctrinally compromised church;

b. The cessation of the revelatory spiritual gifts;

c. The amillennial interpretation of "the last things".

It is recognised that individual members may personally hold a different position on any of these additional matters, but as members they are required not to teach or influence anyone in the church in a way that is contrary to the position taught by the church.

2. Whilst the church believes in the baptism of believers by immersion, Christians who hold to covenant theology and have not been baptised as believers may be admitted to membership, on the clear understanding that they will not seek to teach or influence anyone connected with the congregation in a way that is contrary to the teaching on baptism set out in the Statement of Faith.
